This will give you your 4k resolution, and a lot of speed and power and shit.  And it will look nice, that's the newer version of the case I use, it's quiet and slick and keeps things clean.
Plenty of room on the SSD for windows and most any game you want loaded up quickly.  You might add a second hard drive if you think you'll need more space (or for backup).

Some places you could maybe upgrade to spend that extra thousand bucks (if you hate me and don't want to give it to me):
-Liquid cooling instead of the heat sink
-A second GTX 980 exactly like the first, and crossfire them (that would eat up most of the extra money all by itself, and it would be re-donk-u-luss-ly unnecessary)
-A sound card if you really want one
-A second 1TB hard drive for backup storage (you should probably do that anyway, they are pretty cheap)
-Any of the photo/video editing software that you don't already have, or that you want to upgrade for the new machine.
-$10 worth of LED lights for inside your case if you're gay like me.
-You should definitely have 3 monitors (at least) running with that graphics card, so buy however many more monitors you need to achieve that.  Encircle yourself, son.  Full immersion.

That's all.  Love you.

PRICES

Cheapest: $2135.59

Sil's pick: $2220.59 (2TB, Hybrid GPU, Dual Fan 212 EVO)

Now since I don't know anything about card readers/Blueray drives and I'm lazy, I'm going to steal Fright's choices there.

Cheapest: $2239.57

Sil's pick: $2324.57

(Add $100 for Windows)

Notes:

Fright's build is also good, I just don't know about the reliability of DDR4 yet so stayed away from it.

I elected for 32GB RAM since you said you want to do video editing, if you want to save some money you can drop it to 16GB and save ~$125.

I did not include a case. I don't know what you like in the looks of your computer so I left that up to you. The MOBO is a standard ATX board so it shouldn't be hard to find a case you like. Picking a case is like picking if you're an ass or tits guy. Personally I like the non-standard cases such as this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139029&ignorebbr=1. But to each their own. (WARNING: this case will not fit your card reader)

Choosing colors for a build is hard, there are not very many options if you're looking for specific components. I kind of got lucky and picked a black and gold/tan-ish build. Adding RGB LEDs could make it look nice if you feel the need. You could even pick up an LED controller if you want to change it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811992011

The 1000W PSU will be able to handle a second 980Ti if you feel like doing SLI down the road.

If you plan to overclock you may want to consider liquid cooling the CPU with something (Corsair makes great products for this) just to make it quieter but liquid cooling does add another factor of failure. Most all-in-one liquid coolers are generally reliable but an air cooler will never leak water if it fails.

There are probably other things that I can't think of right now.

EDIT: I did think of something else. Since this is a big powerful expensive machine I would consider getting an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), this will help with surge protection and prevent data corruption in the event of a power failure. I don't know enough on the topic so you'll need to do your own research. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007932&IsNodeId=1

I'd prefer 1000 Twix, but I'll take 1000 kit-kats if that's the offer.

Apparently buying a 100 pack of KitKats is $315... you'd be spending over $3000 on those KitKats for Fright. Might want to rethink your strategy.

Upgrading from window 8 to windows 10 is free.  Buying a new license for a new machine is not.
