It was a little bumpy, but we've finally pulled this merge off, and now we're ready to push forward into some real raiding.
Welcome to the Art of Ruin!!
For those of you new to the site, there are a couple things that you'll need to do in order to sign up for raids here and, most importantly, earn DKP through the Rapid Raid system that guildlaunch.com utilizes. Well, really there's just one thing: create your characters in your profile.
Just go the the User Profile link in the top right, click create characters, and have at it. Create them all, I will go in and seperate mains from alts afterward. Because if you don't see your character's name under the DKP section after following the Rapid Raid link at the top of the website, then you won't be able to earn DKP. If you have any problems, message me via the forums or in-game and we'll fix it.
Also, this is as good a time and place as any to lay the foundation for the atmosphere and ideas we try to follow around here. Tremurr and I have decided on a few basic principles that we're going to drive this trainwreck by, and here's a quick outline:
1) 25 man raiding is priority #1. 10 mans will be supplemental and will often be organized by one of us, but they will generally not be scheduled and will not be a source of stress for any of us. If we put together a killer group for the purpose of achieving something in a 10 man raid, and you're not invited, please don't take a Toaster Bath. It's not because we hate you. I promise.
2) Our raid schedule will be a thing set in stone. We don't exactly have an exact schedule just yet, as we're trying to figure some things out and get some feedback about which nights would work best, but once we get going with two or three 25 man nights, then those are our raid nights. Sign-ups will be required. Tardiness will not be appreciated. Absentee-ism will not be tolerated. We're not dictators, but we are your friends, and we'd like to be treated with the same courtesy you show your real life friends. If you're always late or you stand your friends up all the time in real life... well, then, I guess we expect more than you show your real life friends. You're in this guild to raid. Do it, and be on time for it.
3) We joke, we laugh, we make fun of each other and we belittle and degrade Abscynth, but any real ridicule or in-fighting will not occur. There is a 0 tolerance rule in effect here. If you feel the need to say mean or hurtful things to your guildmembers, whether it's about their hairstyle, their shoe color, their great aunt mildred, or especially about their playstyle or ability, then this is not the right guild atmosphere for you. We joke harshly, but when you stop joking and start being serious, then the line is crossed and you need to stop.
4) In a similar vein to #3, if ever there is a real problem or conflict between guild members, your first step is to get either myself or Trem or both of us involved. Do not let it spiral out of control and spill into raids or guild chat. These problems need to be addressed and fixed immediately, no exceptions.
5) We currently have no officers, but that will change in the coming weeks. Trem and I will name several officers from our raider ranks, and they will assist us in whatever we need assisting in. I, personally, will need one of them to carry my bedpan and manage my cathedar. Trem may use his for sexual needs. I don't know yet. They will, however, have real responsibilities and an influential voice in guild decisions. More on this later.
6) I almost made this part of #5, but its so important I went ahead and gave it it's own point. So here we go: This is not a Democracy. This is not a Dictatorship. This is not socialism, communism, marxism, venture capitalism, government bailouts, wellfare, roth IRAs or 401k's. I am not Hitler, Trem is not your city planner, we are not dually elected officials here to serve you.
This is a TEAM.
We are the raiding team called The Art of Ruin. We are out to compete and win championships by killing bosses. Trem and I are the coaches, officers will be assistant coaches, raiders are our starters, casuals are our bench warmers, initiates are our rookies. Now stay with me while I carry this analogy to it's death: All decisions will be made by the coaching staff. However, starters get to call plays sometimes, too. Look at Peyton Manning. Your input will NEVER be rejected and is ALWAYS welcomed and encouraged. But you need to realize that Trem and I might not agree with you, and we may decide to take a different course. You'll have to trust us. Every decision we make will be heavily influenced by this unofficial mission statement:
1. Support our dedicated raiders.
2. Further progression.
3. Ensure the overall benefit of the guild.
That order is a priority and is intentional. Our members' needs come first, but there must be a balance. If you ever have a question about a decision we make, LET US KNOW! Ask me why. Please. I can't explain our reasoning if I don't know that you disagree or don't understand. We might not agree, but you'll have to trust that Trem and I know what we're doing, and although we're not at all perfect by any means, we will absolutely do everything in our power to ensure the success of this guild.
So that's all. Please respond with your favorite sandwich meat to let me know you read this entire wall of very important to me text.
Mine's either roast beef or smoked turkey breast.

Chicken salad.
I think you might want to add an officer to manage your typos.

Ouch. Right to the core of me!
I misspelled "courtesy" and missed a couple apostrophes I guess, but that's not so bad for an impromptu post that I didn't proof read. GOSH!
Tough crowd.

Oh it's on. You'll be VERY hard pressed to ever find grammar mistakes from me, Der Wenig Fraulein Nazi-Sprachlehre. Go gas some contractions in your Punctuation Camp, and for every grammar or spelling mistake you find in my posts from here on out I'll give you 10g.
Game on.
