If you like Risk, Axis and Allies, Command and Conquer, War/Starcraft, or any other real time strategy or grand strategy video game or board game, or even Harvest Moon and Sim City type games, then you've got to try this game:
http://triplea.sourceforge.net/mywiki
It's free and safe and open source and all that jazz, it's only about 300MB, and it will quickly begin to devour large amounts of your time. It's basically a computerized version of the game Axis and Allies, but the computerized part allows it to be so much more, and so much better. If you aren't familiar with Axis and Allies (I wasn't), or maybe even if you are, be sure to read the pdf rule book so that you have an idea what the hell is going on.
It's a bit complex at first, and every map has different rules and units and stuff to figure out, but the basics are all the same and fairly straight forward, and once you get past the short learning curve, it's crazy addictive. I've played a couple games on my own to figure things out, and I played a network game at my friend's place with three of us for 13 hours the other night and had a blast.

My guilty pleasure... I still play with some emulators on my computer.
